Join TeamBWC to run the iconic Brighton Marathon in 2018. It’s a flat, fast course, with incredible views out over the sea and we’ll be there to cheer you on every step of the way.
Take your feminism to the next level by running 26.2 miles for Brighton Women’s Centre. It’s a huge challenge, but the atmosphere is incredible and Brighton Marathon has fast become one of the most popular running events in the UK.
Why Brighton Women’s Centre?
We care deeply about every woman – every one who visits us and every one who works in our team. Our dream is of a society where every individual is treated equally, regardless of their gender.
We’ve been supporting women for over 40 years. We understand where inequality is most damaging, how we can make a difference to women – and we have a track record in making a big impact from limited resources.
If you run for BWC, every penny you raise will go directly to supporting women in our local community, so every step you take really will make a difference.
What We Can Offer.
- A Brighton Women’s Centre technical vest to wear on race day.
- One to one coaching/advise/support from our TeamBWC coach – leading up to marathon day..and beyond!
- Bespoke training plans.
- Coached group runs as and when agreed including a couple evenings from the women’s centre itself.
- An opportunity to train on a Tuesday evening with a running group, which offers the opportunity to train using a mix of easy runs, threshold sessions and intervals. (Note that the sessions are planned for progression and require a certain amount of commitment to regularly attend).
- Discounted sports massage.
”Like a number of women, I discovered running through taking part in the Race for Life. I remember it well; I completed it in 39:30 and was delighted to have run all the way. Well and truly hooked, I went on to help set up what is now Brighton and Hove Women’s Running Club, where I was an extremely active member for many years before joining Arena 80.
I have been involved with the Brighton Marathon since the beginning and regularly support marathon runners as they make the journey to completing 26.2 miles. Whilst marathon distance is a popular goal I am well aware that it is not for everyone and so I provide equal amounts of support and enthusiasm to someone wanting to run 5k as well as coaching a group to improve their speed over any distance.
I am a qualified Coach in Running Fitness, accomplished endurance runner, who enjoys pushing the distance boundaries and all-round running geek!”
– Brigitte Groves, TeamBWC Coach
